The top five reasons to visit Rocky Point now that it’s reopened

Now it’s time to come visit Phoenix’s closest beach town.  Though there are protections in place, the weather is great and the waters of the beautiful Sea of Cortez are warm and welcoming.  So what are you waiting for?  It’s only a three to four hour drive from Phoenix and the experience will provide you with a lifetime of great memories!

Here are the top five reasons to come visit Rocky Point Now that it has reopened for business:

1. Great food

There are two types of food that you’ll find in Rocky Point:  Street food and restaurant food.  The street food is great, but varies in flavor and quality.  So look for the ones with many people.

2. Things are cheaper in Mexico

A typical two-hour sunset cruise, which offers an open bar, costs about $25 per person.  And, a massage on the beach is about $20.  If fishing and other boat activities are on your list, keep an eye on the weather because high winds will close the port.

3. Visiting Old Port and the malecon

This is where to buy fresh jumbo shrimp and other fresh seafood.  The Old Port includes the Malecon, the popular seaside boardwalk with restaurants, bars and cute souvenirs shops.

Some visitors find one trip into town to be enough.  But, others love the atmosphere and return frequently.  And, taxis are inexpensive, if you tell them you know that prices are “much less than that.” Taxis are recommended if you plan to bar hop and you don’t have a designated driver.

4. Low tide is something to savor

The Sea of Cortez around Rocky Point has the 2nd lowest tide in the world.  That means the sea goes very far out, which is great for beach combing.  Walkers, runners and shell-seekers enjoy a wide swath of flat sand to explore.

5. The people

Rocky Point has a wonderful local population.  The people are very friendly and helpful, if you’re ever in need of assistance.  And, many residents of Rocky Point speak English.  You will find many deportees in Rocky Point, who speak perfect English, but we cautious of them.  There’s usually a reason for their deportation, like drugs and theft.  Just FYI…

Come visit Rocky Point soon!

So come visit Rocky Point and discover the closest beach town to Phoenix, Arizona, only about 60 miles south of the border.  And remember – after you visit, you’ll return frequently.  So, when that happens, remember Anchor Storage: the place to keep your things secure in Rocky Point.  It’s always easier to store your beach things, jet skis, and other large and small items than it is to haul them down time after time.
