Rocky Point tourism: 2019 looks very positive

Looking at the latest figures from the newly-elected Mexican federal government, tourism in Rocky Point looks very optimistic for the year 2019.  And, two indicators were considered in this study: Visitor volume growth and economic growth compared to 2018.  Read more to see just what a great year 2019 is expected to be.

Rocky Point tourism

The new Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marques, insists there will be 44,884,00 international tourists in 2019, which is 5.8% more than the previous year.  And, the tourism sector in general is growing faster than the national economy, which is now over 40 million international tourists in total.  So, visitor volume growth is certainly looking good for Mexico.

Tourism contributes 8.7% more of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) than other industries like mining, natural resource extraction, construction, and financial services, for example, according to data endorsed by private-sector agencies.

Rocky Point economic growth

Economic growth in Rocky Point is expected to increase by 4.3% over that of 2018.  That’s good news for local businesses.  Miguel Torruco Marques reiterated this in the national and foreign forums where he has attended.  The actual expected total income for Rocky Point is expected to be $23.3 million USD.

Sonora strategy

Since the economic forecasts are very positive, the strategy will be a more active promotion of the Sonoran municipalities, according to Amando Cecena Salido, the Coordinator of the Commission for Tourism Promotion.  His focus will be on all of the popular attraction in Rocky Point.

Amando Cecena Salido explained that the Sonora state government will focus on strengthening commercial and promotional ties, along side of the federal government.  This is great news, since it reassures this effort.
